Packing!

So, what is it about packing for two years that makes you continuously review and re-think everything as you pack? I know from experience realistically everything that we really need will be available in country. When we go overseas for months at a time we can get by with nothing but carry-on...so what gives now? It comes down to the fact that we will actually be "living" in the country, not just passing through, visiting, vacationing. So the things we need/want to have are a bit different.

Clothing is probably the least important thing that we are taking. At the same time, we do need to start with some, and knowing that they will get worn out quickly from judicious use of bleach and hand washing means that you should really start out with new stuff. Then the techno-gadgets rear their heads... they really might be something that we can't find or afford in county. So, you take the laptop and the digital camera...but don't forget the chargers, AC adaptors, and spare batteries. What about the underwater casing for the camera? Silly I know, but we'd like to have it if we can get to Belize or Honduras (should be easy). It goes on... spare sunglasses, spare eyeglasses, work boots (might be nice, hard to be sure), seeds for a garden (at least things I thought I might not be able to get), you get the idea.

So here is some of the mess, by now it is a bit more in place. I think that by tomorrow we should be able to pretty much close them up and not touch them till we arrive at staging in DC. Hasta luego!
